The purpose of the automotive outreach program is:

To assist teachers in connecting academic content to real world problems.
To illustrate to Raleigh county students the requirement for good academic skills in the workplace.
To better "engage" automotive students by requiring that they teach fellow students at least the minimum "automotive specific" knowledge required to complete the activity.
NOTE: Although the program is mainly geared toward high-school students, we would be glad to work out arrangements with middle schools if requested. We might do this as part of a field-trip for the entire automotive class to visit the school for example, with teams visiting several classes.

We will work to accomplish this:

By developing and posting lesson plans on this site to facilitate the teacher guiding and monitoring the automotive student as well as verifying class students understanding.

Automotive students at the home high school will bring any tools, equipment, materials needed, and will impart to the class any automotive specific knowledge required.

By making tools, equipment, demonstrators, etc. available that teachers can check out for use with their own lesson plans.
- IE: we have a fuel-cell demonstrator that science teachers could use with no need to connect the lesson to the automotive industry at all.
By providing technical assistance when needed.
